Care Matters Partnership publications provide the latest in legislation, policy and best practice from across the UK and around the world in children’s services. All our publications draw on best practice and the most up to date knowledge to offer readers expert understanding and guidance on how to support and care for looked after children, care leavers and other vulnerable children and young people. Research
Care Matters Partnership considers sound and rigorous research essential to developing the best policy and practice solutions to the challenges facing children and young people in fulfilling their full potential in life. We work with local authorities across the UK to research the views and feelings of the children and young people in their area and in turn their views into improvements in the services and support they receive. Our research team support all our publications and conferences to ensure strong synergy and the best knowledge throughout our products and services.
Care Matters Partnership is currently leading research project on behalf of London Councils looking at the impact of looked after children’s participation in children in care councils. The research is being led by the Care Matters Partnership jointly with leading academics from the University of Central Lancashire and University of the West of England on behalf of London Councils. The researchers will work with all London boroughs, both those with and those without a children in care council and will look at:
- the experiences of local authorities in London of setting up and running children in care councils;
- the experience and perceptions of looked after children and care leavers who participate in children in care councils;
- the experiences and perceptions of looked after children and care leavers who do not participate in children in care councils;
- the views of professionals and politicians involved in supporting children in care councils and responsible for participation more broadly; and
- best practice in setting up and running children in care councils.
